Her son affectionately calls her ‘sunshine,’ and it could not be more fitting. A Host at Cheetah Plains, Sizile possesses a gentle and radiant presence that has come to shape every one of her guests’ stays.
Born and raised in Soweto, she has since travelled the world in hospitality on both land and sea. Sizile started her career as a qualified beauty therapist, working on cruise ships for roughly seven years. Eventually, her journey led her to the Sabi Sand, where she seamlessly transitioned to a new role on the safari side.
Having previously worked in a completely different environment, surrounded by sea and countless people, her present day-to-day life starkly contrasts with her earlier working years. Now a host at an exclusive safari lodge in the wilderness, she says that her new role and surroundings have allowed her a sense of freedom and to come into her own when working with guests, where she can now really be herself. Anyone who has met Sizile can attest to her natural grace and charm, qualities that align very well with the serene energy of the wild.

As each private villa has a dedicated staff cohort made up of a host, butler, culinary team, spa therapist and expert field guide and tracker team, Sizile expertly leads a team of talented professionals, all contributing to the shared aim of crafting a memorable experience. “We are one; no one is above the other”, she emphasises. Sizile especially enjoys working so close with the chefs, saying that she has even found a new appreciation for cooking now that she has learned a thing or two.
Hosting a safari that is entirely on guests’ terms, from culinary preferences to daily itineraries, Sizile shoulders an immense responsibility in curating and co-ordinating a smooth stay for guests that not only meets expectations but far exceeds them. The job demands sharp intuition, attention to detail and personalised touch, all of which Sizile has very skilfully mastered.
Sizile’s approach of always going above and beyond for guests stems from a tangible sense of gratitude and humility, as she has a natural instinct to serve and provide, especially when it comes to her son.
