At Cheetah Plains, the wilderness extends beyond the landscape. Through our partnership with Goodman Gallery, guests are invited to discover an extraordinary collection of contemporary African art that transforms each villa into a living gallery.
Featuring nearly one hundred curated works spanning painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media, the collection celebrates artists whose practices explore identity, environment, history and the evolving narratives of Africa. The collaboration was born from a shared belief that meaningful travel should inspire curiosity and foster deeper connections - with nature, culture and one another.

The rotating collection features significant African and international artists whose practices explore land, memory, identity, materiality, colonial history and environmental change.
Guests may encounter the work of globally acclaimed figures such as William Kentridge, Yinka Shonibare and celebrated South African photographer David Goldblatt, alongside compelling contemporary voices including Pélagie Gbaguidi, Kate Gottgens, Misheck Masamvu, Lindokuhle Sobekwa and Walter Oltmann.
From Kentridge’s monumental handwoven tapestry and Shonibare’s richly layered textile works to Goldblatt and Sobekwa’s deeply considered photography, each villa presents a distinctive dialogue between art, place and the stories embedded within the African landscape.
