Mpho’s empowering path to Cheetah Plains - Cheetah Plains
staff stories

Much like a young leopard nurturing her cub in the wild, Mpho, a young single mother, was fiercely determined to follow her dreams and craft the life she envisioned as a spa therapist.

In a community where cosmetology and somatology were unfamiliar, Mpho had to work hard to pursue her passion and earn her family’s support. In her final year, she discovered she was expecting a baby boy. Though she knew it wouldn’t be easy, her perseverance paid off with four distinctions.

Mpho’s favourite animal is the leopard, as it reflects her own journey. Before finding love, marriage, and welcoming more children, she raised her son on her own, believing it gave her the independence and drive she needed. She has always set goals for herself, never allowing anyone to deter her, which ultimately led her to Cheetah Plains.

I believe if anyone wants something in their lives they can definitely get it with determination

She has found Cheetah Plains different from any other working spa environment. At Cheetah Plains, the therapist is assigned to exclusively serve your villa during your stay and provided with products from Africology.

I love Africology because it’s a South African product with natural ingredients such as African potato, a great Antioxidant and immune booster. The marula ingredient helps with healing skin tissue and reduces redness.

Mpho enjoys this as it allows her to understand and cater to the guests’ needs, ensuring they receive personalised attention. Guests have praised her, noting that despite having massages worldwide, they found her massage to be one of the best.

During her free time, she enjoys singing and traveling with her family when not attending to guests. As a young woman, Mpho has achieved and overcome a lot to reach her goals and provide for her family. Based on this experience Mpho would one day like to run a spa near a village so that she can empower young women who do not have the resources to study and reach their goals.

Advice she would give young women:

Be kind, be wise, focus on being financially independent, refuse to fail, refuse to fall. Each day when you wake up, take it as an opportunity for you to rise up and start again.
