In redefining luxury with an inherent commitment to eco-consciousness, our holistic approach to sustainable practice is what drives our carbon-negative safari. Part of our ongoing journey of preservation and conservation is the reduction of single-use plastic and waste, while seeking suitable alternatives that do not compromise our refined offering.
Our ethos is echoed throughout our guests’ experience as they are greeted with their personalised, reusable water bottles, to be refilled and taken with them on travels to come. Guests are also offered coffee for game drives, served in our custom Cheetah Plains recycled and reusable to-go cups.
Biodegradable packaging and paper are used throughout to replace plastic use, including in the range of amenity kits that are provided in guest suites. Our main villas and suites are fitted with brands that hold the same standard of practice, such as Africology for its locally sourced and natural wellness products and The Joinery, which uses fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles to produce our custom eco-friendly sustainable cosmetic bags, tote bags and binocular bags.
When it comes to game drive drinks stops, we make use of reusable containers to store and present drinks and condiments, which eliminates the need for single-serving sachets and plastic packaging. Plastic straws are likewise no longer used at the lodge, as we exclusively offer metal straws.
In an effort to conserve water and reduce plastic use, we provide guests with refilled and sealed glass bottles of water through our trusted hydration solution partner, Topia. We also make use of filtrated natural borehole water, which goes through a reverse osmosis system that purifies the water to a tested pH level of 9.5. By taking part in a community waste management initiative, our waste is divided and collected bi-weekly by a local community organisation that makes a living reusing, recycling and upcycling materials.
